Much has been written about Bob Costas and his absence from the Sochi Olympics. Some have suggested that his “pink eye,” was not in fact from a viral infection but rather from a treatment with Botox Cosmetic.
It is highly unlikely that this had anything to do with a Botox Cosmetic treatment. If Bob Costas has been treated with Botox Cosmetic, then good for him. Botox is such a wonderful therapy for well over 30 medical disorders. While there are certain risks with Botox Cosmetic such as bruising at the injection site – it is one of the best treatments to improve frown lines, forehead creases and crow’s feet in the upper part of the face. One of the side effects is NOT pink eye. His smooth forehead may have been the result of Botox Cosmetic, but not his pick eye.
I suppose it is possible to develop some type of infection with any injection – however, I have treated 10’s of thousands of patients and have never witnessed any infections, especially one that is more commonly caused by a virus.
In my opinion, Bob Costas pink eye was not due to Botox Cosmetic injections.
