Cincinnati women say this shot is helping their bladders, sex drives

The WOW shot is one way to help women deal with the age-old problem of bladder control

CINCINNATI

A cosmetic surgery center is hoping its newest injection will have women around Greater Cincinnati saying, “I’ll have what she’s having,” just like the famous restaurant scene from the movie, “When Harry Met Sally.”

Meghan Richardson, 39, first heard of the WOW Shot through an advertisement.

The ad from Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center was touting its injection as a way to help women deal with the age-old problem of bladder control or urinary incontinence.

Richardson said she was tired of living her life a laugh, cough or sneeze away from an accident.

“God gave me children and gave me the urge to pee every time I cough,” said Richardson.

There’s an added benefit to the WOW Shot that Richardson is telling her friends about. Patients are experiencing better sexual sensitivity and responsiveness.

Yes, the WOW Shot appears to be enhancing a woman’s sexual experience and her sex drive.

“I mean, to get results that quickly, I was blown away, and the added wow results on top of it is an unbelievable added bonus,” said Richardson.

The WOW Shot uses a technique known as platelet rich plasma, or PRP. There are no pills, patches or creams.

PRP uses the patient’s own blood.

PRP is created when a small amount of the patient’s blood is placed in a special centrifuge machine.

The spinning separates the blood into concentrated components. PRP has been used in several types of surgery for years, including cosmetic, orthopedic and dental surgeries.

Physician Assistant Karen Whitney said the beauty of this treatment is taking part of the body’s own resources and using it in an ingenious way to address an issue that has been difficult to deal with and in a safe manner.

“We are re-injecting the patient with the concentrated blood with the growth stimulating components back into their body,” said Whitney.

The added bonus is that the WOW Shot can last as long as a year or more. Whitney says it varies from person to person.

She says the feedback from patients is very positive.

“They love the results. They love that they’re seeing something instantly. They love that the treatment was virtually painless and takes about five minutes and that they are really getting something tangible as a result of their treatment,” said Whitney.

Richardson hopes treatments like the WOW Shot will make it easier for people to talk about delicate issues like sexual health.

“For women it has always been ‘hush, hush’ and I feel I was robbed of my sexual peak and this has given it back to me,” said Richardson.

The cost of the WOW Shot at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center runs between $1,200 and $1,500 per treatment.

Other centers around town offer treatments similar to the WOW Shot.
