SUMMER HAS COME AND GONE – THE TAN WILL SOON FADE

GET RID OF THOSE TELLTALE SIGNS OF SUN DAMAGE

AND PRE-CANCEROUS LESIONS

With Fraxel Laser

CINCINNATI, OH – October 5, 2018 – The days are getting shorter, but the telltale sunspots remain.   “If the summer sun may has taken its toll on your skin, causing discoloration and additional wrinkles, you may want to consider Fraxel Laser Treatment (FLT),” says Dr. Jon E. Mendelsohn of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center, who has been using the technique since 2007.

Says Mendelsohn, “Fraxel has recently proven to be an effective treatment for actinic keratosis (AK), the most common pre-cancerous skin condition, which affects 58 million Americans, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation and a study in the  in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. The study found that the participants had over an 86 percent reduction in facial AK lesions six months after receiving treatment. “Fraxel not only treats existing spots, but it also prevents new ones from forming.”

Mendelsohn continues, “Hope Merz, a Nurse Practitioner with our new, Studio A cosmetic and skin care division comes to our practice from a private dermatology practice, where she regularly performed full body skin checks, and also treated patients with the Fraxel laser. I highly advise anyone with any type of pigmented lesions to make an appointment to be evaluated by Hope.  She is highly skilled at using this resurfacing technique to effectively treat and eliminate the lesions with minimal discomfort and downtime.”

Says Merz, ” Fraxel is one of my favorite non-surgical cosmetic procedures we offer at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center. Our patients rave about the improvement in skin texture and pigmentation they see with each treatment, especially with such minimal downtime. It’s the perfect answer to all of those years of fun in the sun. Not only does Fraxel improve the appearance of your skin, but it actually diminishes precancerous cells developed after chronic sun exposure and supports healthy skin rejuvenation. From a medical and cosmetic perspective, Fraxel treatments are a Win,Win! “

Unlike the old, ablative lasers that remove the top layer of skin, the Fraxel Laser procedure produces tiny, microscopic sites of thermal impact, separated by areas of unaffected, healthy tissue. It can be used on virtually any area of the body. Typically 1-3 treatments 6-8 weeks apart are needed, depending on the condition being treated, and the severity.

Mendelsohn concludes, “Fraxel offers the benefits of speedy healing and minimal to no downtime. Side effects are minimal and typically involve swelling and redness. Mild swelling should subside within a day or so, and redness usually fades over several days.  It’s okay to apply a physical (zinc/titanium) tinted SPF immediately post-procedure, but no over-the-counter makeup until at least day 4 or 5, to assure that there are no skin reactions.”

Cost of treatment(s) will vary depending on the nature of the patient’s condition, the area(s) treated, geographic location and other related factors.
