Dr. Mendelsohn Introduces Selphyl

JON E. MENDELSOHN INTRODUCES SELPHYL

This New 20-Minute Procedure Stimulates Collagen Growth In Just Three Weeks

Lasts 18 Months

February 1, 2010 – CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center is the first plastic surgery group in Greater Cincinnati to offer Selphyl,äa new filler designed to plump cheeks, fill-in wrinkles and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

According to Dr. Jon Mendelsohn, Advanced’s medical director, “We are thrilled to be the first in the tri-state to offer this treatment to our patients. Selphyl, or PRP, has been used successfully since 1999 to speed up soft tissue healing from sports injuries and also in oral surgery, spinal surgery and other aspects of wound healing. It is now being used cosmetically to reduce wrinkles and scarring, with initial results seen only three weeks after the initial treatment. Best of all, it has long-lasting results of 18 months or more, compared to other injectables, which often require fill-ups every six months or so. This also makes it very cost effective.”

He added, “The entire procedure takes only 20 minutes, and involves drawing a small vial of blood from the patient. The patient’s own blood is then centrifuged to collect the fibrin and platelets, which are injected back into the body to stimulate collagen growth.

This “new” collagen naturally fills skin depressions, acne scars and wrinkles and folds. Because we use the patient’s own blood, there is no risk whatsoever of an allergic reaction. Additionally there is no patient down time, and a patient can literally have the procedure done on his or her lunch hour.”

Selphyl has been successfully used to treat the Upper Face (Glabella Line and Forehead Area), Middle Face (Periorbital Lines, Cheek Augmentation, Nasolabial Folds Smile Lines and Acne Scars) and the Lower Face Vermilion Border, Marionette Lines and Chin Augmentation.)

Marie Clair magazine editors recently voted Selphyl one of 2010’s Top 10 Beauty Innovations.
