Cincinnati, Ohio — January 27, 2016 — Most physician’s wouldn’t go to the extreme of hiring a Hollywood film crew to shoot their patient’s journeys – but Dr. Jon Mendelsohn of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center is clearly the exception. It all started earlier this year when Mendelsohn hired an independent filmmaker and crew, who have worked on numerous productions both locally and Hollywood, to help him capture an in depth look at the lives of several of his patients before, during and after their various cosmetic procedures.
Says Mendelsohn, “I have felt for a long while that I wanted to be able to educate both our current and prospective patients about the thought process that goes on prior to any type of surgical procedure, and the unique motivating factors or “catalyst” for a patient as he or she decides to explore various procedures. Additionally, I wanted to be able to capture “real” one-on-one consultations with patients, the pre-operative experience, go inside the O.R. to view the actual procedure, and share the post-operative experiences as well. The end result is a deep, storytelling approach to our patients and their journeys, rather than a typical clinical video, which simply shows before and after footage. Anyone pondering plastic surgery will be able to relate to these emotionally charged videos that take viewers through the entire thought process from the early contemplative stages all the way through to the final result.”
He adds, “To give the film an actual cinematic or Hollywood feel, footage was shot on a Sony PMW-F55 CineAlta 4K (4,000 pixel) Digital Cinema Camera. 4K is the dominant standard in the movie projection industry and is 4x the resolution of HD.”
Mendelsohn estimates that the crew filmed close to 6 hours worth of footage with each patient – on procedures such as an Advanced Facelifts, upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelids), otoplasty (ear revision surgery), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), scar revisions, reconstructive surgeries and DOT SmartXide laser – used to remove both fine lines and wrinkles and also hyperpigmentation.
Says Mendelsohn, “After pouring through hours of tremendously powerful, high quality footage, I was able to construct a uniquely moving and personal story for each patient that we filmed. They each talked about their personal journeys from the heart, the reasons that they decided to undergo the various procedures are all very compelling, and the reactions to their final results are particularly moving. When edited, each movie or real life story will be approximately 6-9 minutes long, and will be available for viewing on our website at www.351face.com and also on our YouTube Channel.”
The first two movies, each featuring four to five unique episodes, entitled Julie’s Journey and Matt’s Journey, are intimate views of how Dr. Jon Mendelsohn’s talent transforms and impacts the physical and emotional life of both a female and male patient who are undergoing facelifts. They may be viewed at https://351face.com/trueselfies-julie-series/ and https://351face.com/matts-true-selfie-facelift-journey-in-cincinnati-take-pre-series/.
At least three more movies will follow.
