CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A new way to slim some unwanted body fat is now on the market.

It works by dissolving the kind of fat that can often bug you around the sports bra, or in a sleeveless shirt.

To show you how it works Local 12’s Liz Bonis takes you inside the procedure room at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center in Hyde Park. It is called “Kybella.”

“Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a natural bile acid, like when you eat french fries, it helps emulsify fat,” said Dr. Jon Mendelsohn.

Andrea O’Brien says that she first tried it on her chin area with success. She agreed to let Local 12 in on her next choice for Kybella at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center.

“When women have a sports bra on, a swimsuit, that little bit of ‘poochyness’ right there,” said Karen Whitney, indicating that areas in which Kybella targets.

Kybella was just approved for use to dissolve what Andrea calls a “back bulge” or “bra fat”.

“Even when I workout and eat right, you still have those little bit of areas that are still there,” said Andrea.

“We are injecting right into that fat pocket at very carefully spaced interval to dissolve the fat,” said Karen Whitney a physician assistant at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center.

According to the team at the center, she will likely see some results within a few weeks, but ultimately it will be six or eight weeks before you see complete results.

“It will not come back, once fat cells are gone they are gone,” said Dr. Jon Mendelsohn.

They don’t return, but you do still want to keep on a good exercise routine, so you don’t gain weight elsewhere.
