Says Maier, “Buttock enhancements have been performed for years in the larger cities such as New York/New Jersey, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami, where there is an overwhelming demand. There has, however, recently been an increased desire for more ‘buttock volume’ by women nationwide. I performed this procedure on a patient here in Cincinnati several months ago who is thrilled with her results.”
A buttock enhancement is done under general anesthesia, and typically takes a full day with recovery time. The first part of the surgery involves traditional liposuction where excess fat is removed from fatty areas of the patient’s body in areas such as love handles, abdomen, thighs, arms and back. It is important to note that the patient must have some excess fat on their body in order to do this procedure.
Once removed via liposuction, the fat is then processed and injected using a long, thin needle into the areas of the buttocks where volume is desired.
Says Maier, “Patients are receiving the ‘best of both worlds’ with this procedure, as they are eliminating unwanted fat in problem areas, and reallocating it to another area of their body where it is desired.”
Maier adds, “Results are immediate and permanent, and most bruising and swelling is are greatly reduced after 3 weeks, and totally gone in about 6 weeks. Patients must stay off the buttocks for two full weeks, however, in order to not traumatize the blood flow in any way. Special under garments must also be worn for 6 weeks over the affected areas. Most patients are able to return to work in just a few weeks.”
The cost for a buttock enhancement typically runs around $8000.
