Well a lot of patients will notice that as they smile they get lines that fan out from the corner of their eyes and we call those crows feet and some patients will say I don’t mind them at all. They’re a natural part of ageing and other patients really don’t like the fact that they’re crinkling and they’ll even start to seem memory lines. So we do use Botox Cosmetic on the outer area of the eye here to relax the muscle around the eye so that when you smile there’s less crinkling of the skin. I compare it to shaving fabric on a curtain rod together and then relaxing it so that you can watch some patients and as they smile things really crinkle. So by placing Botox here we relaxed that muscle. So when you smile you don’t have that crinkling effect then the skin can relax the crow’s feet can gradually improve as they’re not being crinkled or they don’t develop at all. People worry about looking fake and looking frozen and they’ll say well I want to look like I’m smiling normally. What doesn’t happen when we treat sicko’s feet is keeping cheeks from moving. And that’s part of what creates that facial smile that you know shows warmth instead of the dead smile so your cheeks will still lift and move and so someone like myself might have some lines here still present because that’s a different part of the body. So we’re keeping you quiet on this corner and we’re letting the rest of your face move normally. This is not affecting the eyebrows. It’s just the corner of the eye. It is a delicate area and sometimes you can get a small surface bruise if we see that we’ve had a little blood vessel is treating we hold pressure for a few moments. We ice right away. And if you do get a bruise it should be very minimal and fade within a few days to a week and concealer typically will cover it quite easily. If you’re crow’s feet are not deeply embedded as I relaxed that skin and the muscle movement you’ll see it gradually with the use of especially good skin care products that those lines will fade completely. If you’re coming in before you have crow’s feet as permanent memory lines they won’t develop at all. But if you have very deeply etched lines and they’re not going to be completely diminished what you’ll see is that the movement stops and with the quiet of the movement we can improve the health of the skin. Sometimes patients will come in with a complaint of crow’s feet and there’s really some other things going on. One is that there may be a lot of sun damage and just aging to the skin. And so we always start with physician grade skin care which is going to get a much better result overall than what you buy over the counter. Also we do use a laser called the laser to this area around the eye. And the purpose of the laser is to rejuvenate the skin by removing the upper layers of skin stimulating college and removing the damaged skin. So often we’ll do the dot laser in this area the healing time is about a week and it’s done under local numbing in our office. So it’s a very easy procedure to have done. Also sometimes patients are complaining of crow’s feet. But the real problem is they have a lot of extra skin on their upper or even their lower eyelid in which case we can do an upper or lower blood from plasty also done under local numbing in our office just really about 1 week recovery time. And so often we’re using a combination of treatments to really totally rejuvenate that eye area. Also sometimes we’re putting a little bit of filler into the lower tier trough area or some filler into this outer cheek area to add volume that’s been lost a lot of patients are really nervous about having an injection around their eye. We’re not going really close to the eye. We’re staying out here over the bony area. So while you’ll feel a little stick and staying it takes less than a minute really to treat both sides and you will have a little bit of redness and a little bit of swelling for a very short time. You can cover with makeup go right back to work.
