People are turning to a 30 minute procedure involving the eyelids.

Medical reporter Liz Bonis explains how it works.

Hey there, everybody. If you look at this photo, you can see that as eyelids droop, it could make you lift your brows to try and see better. Or doctors say it can also interfere with our light reflex where you can’t actually see the light bouncing off the inside of the cornea for that reason. Dr. Jon Mendelsohn of Ohio’s Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center tells us that an eyelid lift may be recommended for medical purposes. But he says be careful that you choose a good surgeon no matter what your reason for getting this surgery. Many people will have these surgeries at an eye doctor’s office come back, he says, for a second procedure to try and improve appearance.

They see that they look better now, but they want to look even more refreshed.

The surgery only takes about 30 minutes. Here’s how it’s performed.

There’s an incision here where we remove the redundant skin, some of the extra skin from her eyelid on both sides. Of course, this wasn’t for a medical reason, but needless to say, there are patients who come in whose worlds look brighter. Sometimes they’re actually getting more light back to their retina following these procedures as well.

Here’s a few before and after photos from his model Heather there. The procedure lasts about 15 to 20 years. Now, if it’s for medical purposes, it is covered in most cases by medical insurance plans. If not, you can pay out of pocket about 4 to $6000 for this procedure. It’s been extremely popular, however, to see better, as in this case and more of us seeing ourselves on Zoom. Now also turning to this procedure, I’m medical reporter Liz Bonis. Now back to you.
