Hi, my name is Leah Brunie, and I’m a Nurse Practitioner and I am super excited to be joining the StudioA Team at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center. I have been a Nurse for almost 20 years. I’ve been a Nurse Practitioner for 13 years, and I have been injecting for the last six years. My journey as an injector in aesthetics started actually in Cairo, Egypt, when I worked with a plastic surgeon. So this has been a continuation of a dream of mine to help women and men feel their absolute best inside and outside. My name is Leah Brunie and I’m a Nurse Practitioner that absolutely loves Botox. Another question, I get alot Is Botox injections painful? Now any injection can hurt. But the needles we use are very, very small and the result is amazing. So it’s worth it. The area can be numbed with a topical anesthetic cream or cold pack 10 to 20 minutes before the injections are given. So you may not feel much pain, if any. Plus, the excitement of getting Botox will totally take away all that pain.

Most of our patients don’t feel anything and return to normal activities following their injections.

Any injection can hurt, but the needles used for Botoxinjections are very small, so pain is usually minimal. The area can be numbed with a topical anesthetic cream or cold pack 10-20 minutes before the injections are given, so you may not feel much pain, if any.

There’s no denying that Botox injections are more popular now than ever before. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgery, botulinum toxin injections (Botox being the most popular brand name, though there are others such as Dysport and Xeomin) were the most popular minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure in 2019, with nearly 8 million patients receiving the treatment—a nearly 900% increase since 2000. Point being, lots of people are getting Botox. That being said, if you’re someone who hasn’t yet gone under the needle—but are thinking about doing so—you probably have some questions (one of which being, “Does it hurt?!”)

The needle is extremely small so feels like nothing more than a pin prick, and there’s no stinging or warm sensation when the solution is injected – other than the injection itself, the procedure is painless.

You may have some minor bleeding from where your skin has been pierced by the needle, and the area may be a little red, but this generally disappears within a few hours. There may also be light bruising, which is an unavoidable potential side effect of any procedure that causes trauma to and under the skin.

You won’t be able to notice the difference for a day or two, but you’ll begin to find it harder and harder to move the muscle. Eventually, depending on how much your doctor used, the muscle will become permanently relaxed, and remain so even when you try and move it. This lasts about four to six months, after which time it will begin to gradually wear off over the course of a few weeks. If you choose to repeat the treatment, you should let your muscles regain full movement before booking back in.
