Face & Body Contouring: Sub-mental Liposuction for the Chin area
Many people are turning to a new procedure that contours their face and their body. Medical reporter Liz Bonis shows us how it works.
All right, I admit it. It’s not the usual place that you might think of getting liposuction, but look at this under the chin now. A popular spot for that. Just a warning. Maybe a little hard to watch, but is this video provided by the team at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center shows a simple procedure that removes the fat under the chin can give you these results.
We talked to Dr. Jon Mendelsohn and Dr. Joel Maier to share more about how face and body lipo is now being performed. We call it submental, under the chin, liposuction. This is a real common problem for a lot of people. We’ve talked before about people seeing themselves more on Zoom and social media.
This is a 30 minute procedure performed under local anesthesia. You come in, we make what’s called a stab incision. It’s a tiny two millimeter incision. We run a little liposuction cannula. And and it helps remove that. The skin then will stick to give us a better contour. Here’s a few other body befores and afters to show you. The abdominal areas popular for guys and women now sometimes have this done as well.
Can take some healing time, though. And here’s one more. In most cases you’ll pay out of pocket for this type of skin tightening and surface body fat removal costs can vary, but the average range, about $7,500, according to this team.
Biggest risks are bruising and infection. I’m medical reporter Liz Bonis.
