CINCINNATI (FOX19) – Multiple shipments of counterfeit Botox injections were intercepted Thursday at a Cincinnati consignment facility, U.S. Custsms and Border Patrol Officers say.
The shipments were made to look like shipments of leggings and a ‘facial gift’ sent from Shenzhen, China.
Officials say the shipment was destined for homes in Alabama, Texas and Utah.
As for the Botox packaging, a facial plastic surgeon in Cincinnati told FOX19 NOW they’re a ringer for the real thing.
“My first inclination is, you know, wow,” John Mendelsohn, MD, of the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center said when showed images of counterfeit products.

Botox, or botulinum toxin, is restricted but the FDA, officials say, and cannot be imported into the U.S. without proper documentation.
The FDA issued an alert detailing which pharmaceutical companies produce legitimate Botox products in July.
