How to treat the Under Eye Area? How do you treat the under eye area? Since many factors come into play in this delicate region, addressing the under eye concerns may have multiple solutions. Medical grade skin care is an excellent starting point to support the delicate skin in this area. With the skin being thin and fragile, signs of aging often begin here and may include wrinkles and laxity. Laser treatments such as the DOT resurfacing laser may be used to improve and enhance skin quality. Such lasers can be used on the entire face or just around the eyes. Botox cosmetic is used to relax the contraction of the muscle that circles the eye. Smiling may cause contraction of the outer portion of the muscle, causing crow’s feet or wrinkles that extend from the outer corner of the eyes, as well as some wrinkles under the eye. Loss of cushioning surgace fat and mid cheek volume depletion can give the appearance of circles under the eyes, resulting in a tired appearance. Replacing lost volume with injectable fillers is an excellent solution for the hollow rings under the eyes. Fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane, have the effect of restoring youthful shadows caused by volume loss, fat pads and loose skin. Treatments may take place over one to three sessions, and the results will last one to two years. Finally, surgery called Blepharoplasty may be needed to correct lower eye problems. There are two possible aspects to a lower bleph. Excessive of loose skin under the eyes can be removed with a pinch excision blepharoplasty. Where a portion of the saggy skin is taken out from just under the lower lash line. The scar is not visible because it’s so close to the lashes. In addition, when a bulging fat pad is present, removal of the fat can contribute to smoothing this area. The fat is removed through the lower inner eyelid or trans-conjunctival. Because volume has been removed, the surgery is almost always followed by adding injectable fillers for smoothing and restoring the volume of the under eye region. When you’re considering improving the under eye area, multiple approaches may be needed, and the training and experience of the surgeon and injector is critical to achieving the best outcome.
