Introducing Juvederm Volbella!

The FDA has recently approved the use of new Juvederm Volbella XC for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral rhytids, or vertical lines around the mouth. Dr. Jon E. Mendelsohn, medical director of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center is the first physician in Cincinnati to treat patients with this new, injectable gel technology. The product is formulated with a proprietary filler technology from Allergan known as Vycross, which blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, and contributes to the gel’s duration.

Says Mendelsohn, “I am particularly excited about new Juvederm Volbella XC for the correction of perioral rhytids, an area that has been difficult to treat in the past. This new filler has been FDA approved to address this specific patient concern. Additionally, the product may be injected directly into the lips to add fullness or volume. In clinical trials, Juvederm Volbella was shown to produce a smooth, natural looking result to both the perioral lines and lips for a one year period.”

Mendelsohn continues, “There is minimal down time, although patients may initially experience some welling, tenderness or bruising initially after treatment. These side effects are usually moderate.”

He adds, “We will evaluate all patients 30 days after they are treated at a follow-up visit, and do any touch ups or ‘fine tuning’ that is necessary for optimal correction.”
