Day 8 – Post SmartDot Procedure

I’m just leaving my follow up appointment on day eight, and you can see that everything is healing really nicely. Yesterday in the video I posted, I did have on the tinted sunscreen. And today I don’t have anything on other than a thin layer of Aquaphor so that you can get a good indication of, you know, how pink the skin might be on day eight.
There is no dryness left, just a little bit of pink under the eyes and again around the mouth, which again can be covered with that tinted sunscreen, which I did not apply today. I will follow up again in about 30 days. And what can be expected between now and day 30 is just some additional skin tightening.
The redness will reduce into just some additional skin tightening, so I will post videos probably about once a week and take some additional pictures to get the full, you know, the full recovery process through day 30.
SmartXide is a fractional CO2 laser treatment that uses dermal optical thermolysis (aka DOT therapy) to treat skin conditions like wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, loss of elasticity, and acne scars. Traditional CO2 lasers are ablative, which means they remove the skin’s surface layer. They can be painful and require a week or more of downtime. The only thing it doesn’t help with is broken blood vessels. For this we use intense pulsed light [IPL].” Because SmartXide doesn’t go as deep as traditional CO2 lasers, the treatment requires only topical anesthesia and isn’t considered painful—although you might feel some minor discomfort, often described as a stinging sensation.
